About me: My professional career as a classical pianist, piano-teacher and instrumental coach, from its outset in 1975, has involved me equally in the fields of solo and ensemble performance, piano-accompaniment, and repetiteur work with choirs, opera and ballet companies. As a teacher throughout this time I have specialized particularly in the training and coaching of adults of all ages and levels of attain ment. Alongside my practical activities, I work extensively in academic research, investigating the mental skills used by outstanding performers and exceptionally gifted learners, differences between traditional piano-teaching methods and those of master-pianists who teach at the highest level, and the relevance of relatively recently emerged fields of knowledge - neuroscience, cognitive and sports psychology, psychology of music, cybernetics and  systems control theory, philosophy of science and contemporary epistemology, among others – to the understanding, teaching and learning of pianistic skills.
