UPT.com's  General Website Rules

Based upon ocProducts supplied "Balanced" ruleset
Please carefully read and observe the following house-rules, which apply to all aspects of the website - including its Forums, for which an additional set of rules applies. Please refer to the penultimate section which states the possible consequences for users who violate rules.

Liability

UPT.com does not guarantee the accuracy, validity, integrity or security status of any content posted to  the website, and will accept no liability as regards any issues that may result from its presence. We do not scan all  uploaded files or targets of weblinks for viruses or other forms of malicious code.

UPT.com shall not accept any liability as regards acting or its failing to act to delete  or otherwise remedy  undesirable user-posted content unless the website's staff has known of its presence of it for at least one full week. During that period of time liablity for its presence shall remain solely and entirely with the user who posted it. However, UPT.com reserves  its right to delete identified undesirable posted content at its own discretion during that period of time.

Trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

Accounts and your behaviour

Do not join this website more than once (hence creating multiple accounts). If you cannot remember your password, use the 'lost password' feature, which is available on the login page. If problems persist, contact the staff.

Do not pose as, or wilfully act as, a member of staff.

General posting/submission guidelines

Do not post any copyrighted material for which you have no right to dsseminate.

Do not repeatedly use strong/harsh swearing or sexual references.

Do not be too sexually graphic. Do not link to or post pornography, and only mild and non-sexually motivated nudity is allowed.

UPT.com's staff reserves the right to edit, censor, delete or otherwise modify any submtted content or communicated message they feel is inappropriate, without any warning given to the poster.

Do not submit any content that you know to contain viruses or commonly exploited security holes.

While users are permitted to delete content they have personally uploaded or composed using the website's facilities, its submission and deletion are  automatically logged by the website software and this evidence of its temporary presence remains permanently irremovable. Content-submitters should further bear in mind before doing so that "snapshot" copies of the website's collected pages are regularly captured by the International Web Archive and remain permanently viewable to the general public via its Wayback Machine website.

Any content submitted to the website will not necessarily be deleted by UPT.com's staff upon request. The staff refrains from deleting submitted content that does not violate the website's rules, and anything submitted should be assumed to be staying on our servers, publicly accessible permanently. By submitting, you are aware of the consequences of doing so, and take responsibility for your action, and may not at any time insist on content being deleted.

Do not try to bypass the website's word filter: Filtered words are placed in the filter in accordance with guidelines, and include obvious misspellings, or equally obnoxious alternatives, that only serve to pollute UPT.com's general atmosphere.

Do not open topics having titles that present spoilers  (material that discloses the substance of subject matter viewable on the website before the majority of members have learned of it through the channels they would personally choose to). If you wish to post spoilers inside a topic give good advance-warning therein of their inclusion, and use the Comcode 'hide' tag to conceal them.

Do not post a link to a website that contains material that would be in violation of the rules if posted directly on this website. Special exceptions may be granted by the staff at its discretion when clear warnings have been put in place.

Do not incite illegal activity, either directly, or by educating with the obvious purpose to make it more achievable.

Do not spam this website:
  • you must be moderately confident that anything posted will interest at least a minority of the members.
  • you must not post material more than once unless there is good reason, from the point of view of other members.
Do not intentionally disrupt the enjoyment of this website by other users. 'Enjoyment' has a general meaning for the purposes of this rule – for example, robust argument in a debate forum would be considered 'enjoyable', as debaters would wish for it.

This website is private property and hence any form of censorship is allowed at the discretion of the staff – you agree not to consider this website a forum for free speech if the staff consider its substance violates any of UPT.com's rules.
